Virgin Atlantic installs double-beds on planes
Published by Jake Allen October 4th, 2004 in UncategorizedIn a move that needs no additional innuendo, Virgin Atlantic has fitted four pairs of double suites onto two of its Boeing 747-400 aircraft, giving passengers traveling together two square meters of space so that they can “enjoy their flight closer together“.
Sir Richard Branson, founder of all the different Virgin companies and billionare international-man-of-mystery-wannabe, said “’suiter’ dreams” has been one of his lifelong ambitions.
May God have mercy on the stewardesses.
MADNESS!

That’s still pretty small, I think. Still, much better than an airline seat!
I think it’s a good idea.
Umm, this isn’t a new thing guys.
British Airways has had 6′ x 6′ beds in first class since the mid 1990’s.
Before that, airliners have had beds as an option since the late 1930’s (sikorsky flying boats, among others). Granted most airlines opted for the more space efficient seats, but quite a few DC-4’s DC-6’s, Comets, and 707’s had beds.
Thanks for the info! I didn’t know.
