Suppression

Sources tell me that the blocking software at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary designates this page (www.ockhamist.com) under “quota time”. It’s not fully blocked, but limited to 60 minutes per week with other “quota time” pages.

I’m racking my brain trying to understand how an indexing software would designate me as unhealthy. Certainly a human might consider some of the discussion here as madness, but why would software give me a stigma? There’s a few PG-rated profanities (mostly Blandus) and a few links to homosexual-themed blogs (also mostly Blandus). I’ve been the critic of certain policies and administrators at Southern Seminary, so perhaps that’s the catch. There’s been some discussion of movies and television from me, and discussion of abortion from both of us.

In any case, it was sad news for me today that my former school and my church’s flagship seminary . . . doesn’t want its students to read my writing. Whether I fit a category they don’t like, or that they simply don’t like me matters little. Either speaks poorly of the school. Or of me.

Why would a school limit the Internet anyway?
