Forgive the meta-blogging, but the webpage is working out great. Lots of you guys are reading it, according to the stats (I’ll have more acurate numbers when June starts and I’m done loading the page ten times a day to check changes in colors, fonts, et al). Hits are going to skyrocket when I go to Honk Kong next month (they always do). I like wordpress for not using perl, and for not forcing me to compromise my cgi-bin folder to hackers, and even though it is supposedly not as mature as MT, it has lots of nice features which I like very much. The install was much easier than MT (I finally paid for the install in Oct 2003), and for “open-source” it is very well documented. The ping-back feature is more robust too. I haven’t had any spam yet. (gee whiz, hurry up and index me, Googlebot!)

On the cons, it is built to standards, and so is not as IE friendly as I would like (looks great in Opera, though). I’ve found some of the plugins quite buggy also. My spell checker won’t work in the Wordpress Write Post frame (web 2.0’s fault, IMHO), and that’s too bad because I’ve spent a lot of time updating the custom dictionary. And the header picture draws a blank about one time per twenty (it was an intentional “feature” of the plugin . . . madness!)

I really love the new header picture at almost every load. Every time I load the page, a memory is revisited. Blandus is back onboard, and we can expect some great posts this summer . . . right? Right!?!? I’m very pleased that you’ve embraced my staccato posting style (see below).

I’ve also worked out jake.allen.ockhamist.com, but unfortunately Wordpress uses some relative linking, and so the subdomains are not all that useful. The Lucy’s football explaination of men and women is blocked as hotlinking the picture. I may be too lazy to make it work. We’ll see. And really, don’t women just live to pull the football away?
