I think I figured out why the Movable Type died. The table which names all of the entries, ‘mt_fileinfo.MYI’, is missing from the database. I do not know why, or how to replace it, if that were possible. That seriously limits what I can do with MT now.

Better page now?
2 Comments Published by jakeallen May 23rd, 2006 in jake.allen.ockhamist.com, Jake's MusingsI’ve reduced the load time of this page by three seconds, vs the original ockhamist.com. There is 10% less data, and better use of stylesheets. This page has a load time comparable to yahoo.com.
It feels good to have the page working again.

Lots of you guys are reading it, according to the stats (I’ll have more acurate numbers when June starts and I’m done loading the page ten times a day to check changes in colors, fonts, et al). Hits are going to skyrocket when I […]

“This is very interesting science and a very interesting idea and it is supported on a great mathematical and physical basis,” said Nader Engheta, a professor of electrical and systems engineering at the University […]

It’s wonderful how the internet connects people when geography, language, and culture have natural divisions. An artist (and law professor?) at Trinity in Dublin, Fergus Ryan, sent me the above drawing of The Rick of Cahsel in Ireland. (I saw it in January of 2005. photos). He was one of the thousands of people who […]
Movies that didn’t happen
0 Comments Published by jakeallen May 26th, 2006 in jake.allen.ockhamist.com, Jake's Musings, MoviesThis is my all-time favorite mockery of that movie. And the other one.
My “Movies that didn’t happen” page is still one of the most popular pages on this site, thanks to Google Image Search. Yes, I know that there’s an ontological problem with the title, thank you. In November of 2003, I stole half of […]
X-Men is number two!
0 Comments Published by jakeallen May 27th, 2006 in jake.allen.ockhamist.com, Jake's Musings, Cultural Commentary, Movies“X-Men 3: The Last Stand” had the second-highest grossing single-day box office ever yesterday. I was a part of that. You’re welcome. Of the top 20 highest grossing days, they are all fantasy except for “The Passion of the Christ” at number 20. Mostly Star Wars, Marvel Comics, Harry Potter, Shrek, LOTR, and assorted varieties.
It […]
