Moroccan time
0 Comments Published by jakeallen September 7th, 2006 in travel, Jake's Musings, MoroccoMorocco is five hours ahead (UTC +0) of USA Eastern Standard Time (UTC -5), except during daylight savings time, when Morocco is six hours ahead. Therefore, summer = Louisville time +6; winter = Louisville time +5. In Africa, only Egypt, Namibia, and Tunisia use Daylight Savings (aka “Summer Time”).

Tolerance from a non-role-model

0 Comments Published by jakeallen September 11th, 2006 in travel, Jake's Musings, Cultural Commentary, politics, mythology, America, MoroccoThe Library of Congress has an impressive set of Coca-Cola television advertisements. Unfortunately, they require RealPlayer to play, and are of poor visual quality. I hit double-size to watch.

I’m thinkin’ Arby’s
1 Comment Published by jakeallen September 14th, 2006 in Jake's Musings, Cultural Commentary, The Simple Life, Home Life, HealthI think that I meet the clinical criteria for fast-food addiction.
The 12 steps include:
1) Hardees
2) Wendy’s
3) Arby’s
4) Burger King
5) the Wendy’s near work
6) McDonalds
7) Thorton’s gas station (love those sausage-biscuits)
8) KFC
9) Chik-fil-a
10) Subway
11) Sonic
12) White Castle
These twelve steps might not be in the right directions, but . . . um, there’s also Little Ceasars. Pizza Pizza.

The Liberals have it all wrong
5 Comments Published by jakeallen September 14th, 2006 in Jake's Musings, Cultural Commentary, News Commentary, metablogging, politics, economics, AmericaGeorge Will has a great piece on why liberals have it all wrong. Wal-mart, McDonalds, Coca-Cola, Kansas, and anything that Americans actually like, choose, or enjoy are the problem to liberals. (via digg)
