I’ve added Josiah Ryan to the list of Hillsdale College Bloggers. I don’t update that much, but since it is easily found on google, am willing to update it for anyone that makes a suggestion. It is sort of a social networking site run by Jake Allen, only without teh kewl.
Speaking of social networking, I’ve also joined Facebook, because a friend wanted me to see his photos. What a strange place, this Facebook. I now have three friends. Woo-hoo! When I say friend in the first sentence, I mean a real friend, not a Facebook friend, although the two can overlap. In fact, mine do. But I suspect the criteria for “Facebook friend” is much lower than actual friend for most people. Not that some of these people don’t actually have 467 friends, but maybe their list of friends in real life doesn’t exactly match facebook. Yeah, and I’m that weird old guy on Facebook now that your local news warned you about. I’m pretty much going to use my Facebook page as a shill for this page. ( . . . but if you want to invite me to be your friend on Facebook, I would, you know, feel special and less lonely and stuff, ‘cuz teh 1337z w/da friendz are teh kewl . . .)
Madness!

“Friend” as on Facebook is usually wholly different from “Friend” in real life. On Facebook, it’s more like acquaintance…if that. It’s interesting that some even have more than 500 “friends,” since we are designed to have about 500 acquaintances, as gleaned from hunter-gatherer and horticultural societies.
Designed by who?
Madness!
Well, it would seem to be evident that man would adapt, either consciously or not, to the local pressures of the environment he found himself in, and consequently the environment to man; a less man-centred way of putting it is that the elements of the environment adapt to one another.
Oh.
Madness.
I have a facebook site too. Since I am a woman, however, it is less creepy.
Thank you for confirming my creepiness!
