It’s easy! Just:
Walk instead of drive.
Don’t use air conditioner.
Don’t eat anything that has been to a factory.
Don’t eat or drink anything from 4:30 AM to 6:30 PM during Ramadan.
Do eat whatever you want from 6:30 PM to 4:30 AM. Really, knock yourself out. You can’t eat enough. The weight […]

Why women are bad, written by a woman
4 Comments Published by jakeallen March 7th, 2007 in Jake's Musings, Cultural Commentary, Religion, Humor, metablogging, politics, America, Health, Women, IndiscretionThis woman says some of the things that a man just can’t say, like how men have been deprived of their reproductive rights, and how two parents really are better than just a mother. [WARNING: profanity] I laughed out loud. I’ve been accused of misogyny before on this site, and this link won’t […]
Rabat
0 Comments Published by jakeallen January 27th, 2007 in Jake's Musings, Cultural Commentary, metablogging, economics, America, Health, Morocco, life update on Jake, FoodI went to Rabat today, the capital city. We mostly spent time in the “MegaMall”. It was nice, but expensive. I went ice-skating, bowling, but most importantly, ate 2 triple cheeseburgers at a Quik and took home a large hamburger pizza from Pizza Hut. Almost took home two, but Pizza Hut has […]

I’m thinkin’ Arby’s
1 Comment Published by jakeallen September 14th, 2006 in Jake's Musings, Cultural Commentary, The Simple Life, Home Life, HealthI think that I meet the clinical criteria for fast-food addiction.
The 12 steps include:
1) Hardees
2) Wendy’s
3) Arby’s
4) Burger King
5) the Wendy’s near work
6) McDonalds
7) Thorton’s gas station (love those sausage-biscuits)
8) KFC
9) Chik-fil-a
10) Subway
11) Sonic
12) White Castle
These twelve steps might not be in the right directions, but . . . um, there’s also Little Ceasars. Pizza Pizza.
Madness. […]
Women at Forbes, who have careers, got mad at being told they are not good mates
0 Comments Published by jakeallen August 25th, 2006 in Jake's Musings, Cultural Commentary, News Commentary, metablogging, politics, economics, Health, WomenForbes pulled the article referenced below, and replaced it as a point-counter-point piece. The counter-point, however, is by a feminist who calls men lazy and explains why failed marraiges are really their fault.
Harldly a counter-point. The original author must be laughing. Or getting fired.

Of babies and happiness . . .
4 Comments Published by jakeallen August 23rd, 2006 in Jake's Musings, Cultural Commentary, News Commentary, Science/Tech, Religion, politics, economics, America, Health, WomenNew stem cell proceedure does not harm embryo, but the embryo gets thrown away anyway. Who wants to raise a kid missing a stem cell?
Among former embryos, the happiest people are old, married, church-going, evangelical, rich, college-educated, retired, laid-back, male, conservative, white, suburban, Republican, healthy, sunbelt-living, parents. Is anyone surprised? Do young, poor, black, urban, […]
If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life . . .
6 Comments Published by jakeallen August 23rd, 2006 in Jake's Musings, Cultural Commentary, News Commentary, The Simple Life, Religion, Home Life, economics, America, Health, WomenForbes is reporting that men who want to be happy (not every man, apparently) should steer clear of and not marry career women. In a successful marraige, women should cook the bacon, not bring it home.
Divorse makes one really unhappy (duh!), and staying single is about as good as a bad marraige, although a good marraige […]
Live Strong?
1 Comment Published by jakeallen August 22nd, 2006 in jake.allen.ockhamist.com, Jake's Musings, Cultural Commentary, News Commentary, The Simple Life, Science/Tech, Home Life, America, HealthI just finished an hour bike ride. Twenty minues out, my heartrate is still noticeably above normal, which can be interpreted as either good or bad.
An article today reports that two new studies confirm that even a few extra pounds contribute to early death.
While I am still in the middle of the BMI chart, I […]
